[Entry 008] The All Natural Face "Patina" Review

Haven't updated in awhile, but I thought I'd do a post to add to the wonderful world of make up review. :)

I recently got some samples from The All Natural Face, so I thought I'd try some out and do a little review. :)

This is a review for concealer "Patina", a green powder used to cover up redness. I've got allergies out the yang, tissues make my nose red, and I just got a bit of a sunburn on my forehead and nose, so that is definitely something I need!

After washing and drying my face, I applied the concealer and immediately noticed a change. I just used a mini kabuki brush and buffed it on. Unfortunately, my forehead is starting to peel a bit, so the powder caked in a few areas, but that is definitely not a fault of the powder, but of my skin.

It worked on my nose a lot better, since there is no peeling there, and it even helped cover up a scab on the bridge of my nose, which is a total plus.

After the concealer, I just applied my regular powder foundation, and voilĂ ! Still a bit pink, but definitely no longer a lobster.

My forehead is a failure, because of the peeling, but I would totally recommend this concealer for anyone who has some problems with redness in their face, because it helped with a good deal of it, plus it feels nice on my skin, and did not add to the irritation one bit.

The webcam pictures don't quite do it justice, but there is an obvious change, especially in my nose. :)

[Entry 007] House MD, S5E3: Adverse Events

This post will contain spoilers about the recently aired episode of House, S5E3: Adverse Events. Do not continue if you have not seen the episode and do not want to be spoiled.

I have been so busy this week, I forgot to do a post for this week's episode of House! I feel like a dweeb doing one now, but the next episode is not until next Tuesday, so it is not like I will be doing another one of these any time soon.

Anyway, I liked this episode, overall, but there were parts that I did not like.

1. There was no pining. House was having happy fun times with Lucas, and there was no mention of Wilson at all. I realise the man is probably trying to just enjoy himself while he can, but still. I am expected some sort of emotional angst, even if it has been a few... weeks (?) since Wilson left.

2. That photograph of House as a cheerleader, even though it was apparently supposed to be real, was awful. Come on, graphics team, you can do better than that.

3. Taub doing a total 180 and deciding that he would tell his wife about his affair. The whole episode he not telling her, not telling her, not telling her, and then the patient tells his girlfriend that he was doing drug trials for money and Taub decides he is going to tell? Drug trials =/= Cheating on your wife. Just because some guy's girlfriend forgave him for the former, does mean your wife is going to forgive your for the latter, Taub. Am interested in seeing how that all works out, though.

Which brings me onto things that I liked!

1. Taub's wife is so cute. She is all blonde and happy and adorable, and I quite enjoy her.

2. Lucas/Cuddy. They are also adorable. Lucas is an awkward geek face, and Cuddy totally likes it. I do not want Lucas to leave any time soon, haha. I want him to stick around, just for those interactions.

3. The paintings the POTW did. The messed up ones, not his actual paintings. If somebody painted a messed up looking picture of me like that, I would be so thrilled.

4. The fact that they are actually relating the patients to the main characters again! Comparing Taub and the POTW with their domestic lying troubles. That has always been one of my favourite things that they do on House, so I will be very glad if it continues in this season. I saw it in the first two episodes, so they are doing an ace job.

5. Lucas and House playing music together. Things are not exactly happy, but they were having fun! Also, it just sounded very nice, I need to get an MP3 of their playings.

Things I am looking forward to next episode:

-Road trip! I have been waiting for the rumoured road trip since S4 was still going, so I am super excited! Even considering the circumstances surrounding the road trip, and the fact that House and Wilson still have yet to make up, I am very, very excited.

[Entry 006] House MD, S5E2: Not Cancer

This post will contain spoilers about the recently aired episode of House, S5E2: Not Cancer. Do not continue if you have not seen the episode and do not want to be spoiled.

They are really packing in the House/Wilson angst in these first few episodes, aren't they? I must say that I cannot complain, though. Wilson is being kind of a jerk, but he'll get over it, and I always like to see a little drama in my TV shows. Again, knowing that they will make up puts things in perspective, and makes it a lot less sad when seeing Wilson being angry at House.

Anyway, overall, I adored the episode. Again, I liked the PotW, and I loved the PI, just like I thought I would!

PotW: Apple (that name always cracks me up) seemed like a really interesting person. I like how she lied about having a two-year-old daughter so that the wife of the other guy would feel bad for her and consent to have her husband's brain biopsied. It obviously did not work, but I think if the woman had not know that Apple didn't have any visitors, she would have been convinced. I didn't think she was lying, anyway.

"The world was ugly," is one of my favourite scenes. She stopped being an architect after she got her sight back, because she did not like what she was seeing. I like to be a dweeb and think she meant it both ways. Like, she finally saw the world (even though her view was distorted, it turned out) and then she saw it. Still. Going from being an architect to being a math teacher? Kids are assholes, should have done something else.

PI: Lucas Douglas. Lol that name. Anyway, he was so awkward and cute! Getting all pissy at the fellows when they were thinking his inputting ideas was odd. AND THAT LAUGH OF HIS. 'No no, I sneezed.' His argyle socks get him so many awesome points, in my book. Also, his stalking of that woman was hilarious. I cannot wait for next week when he interacts with Cuddy, as I am sure there will be more than just what we saw in the preview.

House and Wilson: Even though Wilson was only in that one scene, I really like how he was still pretty much the centre of attention on the show. House hiding out in his empty office, House asking the PI about Wilson, House pining after Wilson, etc. I am totally fine if they do a few more episodes with this, House moping around while Wilson is off trying to pretend they're not friends is good for character development. =P

House trying to find a new friend: It is funny enough that House pretty much told that guy to pay for his lunch, it is even funnier that the guy actually paid. No idea why he did that, but it was good times. 'Word is, you're into monster trucks.' I like how the man did not just tell him to sod off. He obviously did not want to chat it up with him and be best friends, but I think he handled House's insanity pretty nicely.

'Are you checking me out?' (the other guy) and 'I think I'm falling in love' (House) were probably my favourite quotes from that exchange. House is such an odd, odd man. I feel bad for him, trying to find somebody to hang around with, but even when he is being pathetic, it is hilarious, and that is one of the things I quite enjoy about the show.

Oh oh, and this exchange. Because it is beautiful

Guy: You know I'm not gay, right?
House: You don't wanna have sex, that's fine with me.

Obviously I cut a few bits out, but you get the point. This show brings the good times.

Other random parts: House calling that nurse into Apple's room for no reason and telling her to get him peppermint tea. Kutner and Foreman blowing high-pressure water through the dead guy's bowel, and getting guts all over themselves. House insisting Apple has cancer, then when he is 'proven right', saying she does not.

Other quotes I enjoyed:

'Old people are scared of black people.' (House... I think.)

'I want ice cream!'
'Not until you learn to read!' (Random kid and Lucas)

'They go around the room, cry about who's dead.' (Lucas)

'Your type is much stupider than her.' (House)

'House many friends do you have?'
'Seventeen.'(House and Lucas)

'I don't care how often a kid cries he'd being eaten by a wolf, Mommy's still going to come running.' (House)

Things I am looking forward to next week:

-The PI hitting on Cuddy.
-House teasing Thirteen about that woman, or whatever.

[Entry 005] House MD, S5E1: Dying Changes Everything

This post will contain spoilers about the recently aired episode of House, S5E1: Dying Changes Everything. Do not continue if you have not seen the episode and do not want to be spoiled.

Sometimes, I really hate being on the west coast, just because so many of my friends see the episodes three hours before I do, and I cannot really join in on discussions. That has nothing to do with anything, though, so onto the episode!

I was so happy when the episode started up. That woman's boss was seriously hilarious. Her employee is freaking out about imaginary bugs all over her, and she was just like, 'You going to call an ambulance, or are you going to just stare?' instead of, I don't know... calling it herself? Expressing some concern? Oh well, I quite enjoyed the opening. I always like how you can just tell it is House, the second it starts up, because of how the opening is.

House playing video games with coma guy is so amazing. He is just sitting there, chilling out, and Cuddy is like STOP PLAYING VIDEO GAMES AND GO TALK TO WILSON. 'I considered being a horrendous pain in the ass, but I didn't want to tread on your turf.' I love House and Cuddy, they say the best things ever. Even when Cuddy is being legitimately concerned, and House is trying to avoid her, their banter is so playful and great.

Then after that, the whole scene with House revealing that Thirteen has Huntingtons. She says something that has nothing to do with it, and he's like I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS, thus, confusing everyone. I quite enjoy moments like that. Also, Kutner and his 'Are you lying?' 'Are you deflecting now?', and his general concern, while not really caring that it is not really his business is great. He is such a cute character, and I really enjoy his interactions with Thirteen.

Okay, enough play by play, onto House and Wilson. Those two make the best faces, I swear. There were quite a few scenes where Wilson looked as if he would cry, but he was angry at the same time. And House's angry face when he said, 'Actually, as you can see, I'm not busy, it's just a euphemism for "Get the hell out of here",' was so ragey and upset, it was perfect.

Also, quick tangent: Why would Wilson write his resignation by hand? His handwriting is horrible. Type it up, mister, unless you are trying to give Cuddy more excuses to not accept it.

Anyway. House and Wilson throughout the whole episode were just ridiculous.

Wilson was not listening to anyone at all, which is his right, but honestly? Cameron was right-- running away doesn't help, and nothing is really the right choice, so he shouldn't think he is doing the right thing. She has been through this before, I think she knows what she is talking about. And though I totally do not agree with Foreman telling Wilson he should leave (not in a mean way, just agreeing with Wilson's decision), he was right, Wilson should do what he really wants to do, do whatever is right for him. Running away is not going to help him at all. Telling House they were never friends to begin with? Not constructive, and very middle school. I know this will all blow over, but seriously. So much drama.

I do love that House honestly apologised, even though Wilson didn't blame him, and House still got crushed. He is just going to keep showing how much he cares about Wilson, how much he values their friendship, until it is finally enough for Wilson, I think. It would honestly make me happy if House was the one to get them back together, by doing something Wilson cannot refuse.

Aside from adoring House and Wilson's interactions, and House and Cuddy's interactions, I also actually loved the Patient of the Week. Even though I was like, 'Guys, ectopic pregnancy. Check for that before doing a DDX on the 'false' pregnancy test', I was actually interested in all the medical procedures, and I liked the character. Thirteen kept getting frustrated with her, and she was a good way to get more insight into Thirteen. I also really liked her, 'She's just another boss, and I'm just another employee. In a way, I matter.' I am hoping this seasons continues with the patients like this. Ones that help us see more about the main characters. Same with clinic patients. There were none in this episode, but I hope we get to see more of them.

I also enjoyed how much of a jerk Chase was being. Not willing to work for the fellows, mostly because House wasn't around. 'A bump? Oh yeah... My grandfather died of a bump.' 'Then I suggest you don't stand there like idiots.' I love how hew grew a spine, along with getting his magical surgical skills. He is good times.

Other quotes I enjoyed:

'In six months, when you've moved on from Amber to Burnt Sienna...' (House to Wilson)

'Yesterday's sluts are today's empowered women.' (House)

'Heeey, who are you?' (Patient to House)

'She dumped me when I lost the last 85 pounds. Says there was less of me to love.' (House about Cameron-- joke, obviously)

'If her daddy hadn't been drunk, she might have never been born.' (House to Cuddy, about Amber)

'You want to keep him, he needs to know he's not alone.' (Cuddy to House, about Wilson)

'I have to do what's best for me, you have to do what's best for you.' (Wilson to House)

'Mind if I come in?'
'Not at all, mind if I leave?'
(Cuddy and House)

'If you tell Wilson how you actually feel about him [...] If you make yourself vulnerable for once...' (Cuddy to House)

'See! You two are friends!' (Cuddy to House and Wilson)

Things I am looking forward to next week:

-The Private Investigator. He looks like so much fun.
-More House and Wilson drama.
-The case looks really awesome, with all the people who got transplants from one person dying.

[Entry 004] House Season 5 Speculation (Spoilers)

This post may contain spoilers for the upcoming season of House. If you want to avoid them, do not read.

It is the Sunday before season five of House starts up, and I must say that I both excited and anxious. Obviously, there is that ever present excitement surrounding new episodes, especially since we have all been waiting all summer for them, but on the other hand, it is going to be so angsty.

House and Wilson are going to be alright in the end, we know that. Numerous cast members have said that the 'lovers are reunited', so I do not think anyone needs to worry about them ceasing to be friends. It is the down time before their friendship is rekindled that has a lot of people worried. How long are they going to be separated? What is going to 'reunite' them? There is apparently going to be a road trip, what is that all about?

Some people have speculated that one of House's parents may have died, that being the reason for the road trip, and while that is highly likely, I think it would be a bit much to follow up one death with another. It happens all the time, I am sure, but we need some reprieve from all the angst. We need to get House and Wilson back to normal, so that we can have House get back into some of the patterns that made people love it in the first place. Annoying clinic patients and all.

Adding to all the chaos, House is going to hire a private investigator to keep an eye on Wilson, and to look into his patients. Michael Weston is a talented man, and I am excited to see him at work, and to see where this character is (or is not) going to go. Weston is signed on for multiple episodes, and there are rumours of a spinoff, so I hope the character is one I want to see stick around.

Above everything else, I think I want to know what is going to become of all the House/Cuddy rumours. Katie Jacobs has said 'there's potential for House and Cuddy' in the past, but is there really? In my opinon, their ship sailed a long time ago, and they are not going to ever have an actual relationship, but I may be wrong. If they do delve into that territory, I can only hope that the characters are not completely ruined. Cuddy needs to start earning back some of that respect we see from House in earlier seasons, and House sleeping with his boss is not going to get her any brownie points, in my opinion.

All that being said, I am happily anticipating the start of the new season, whatever happens.
